Not for the faint-hearted, Clubber hits an instant cult status with its ability to synthesise feelings of destruction and malaise whilst still making you want to throw your hands in the air. Industrial, raw, glorious - Clubber demonstrates the power of excellent arrangement and is the perfect antidote to this time of global unrest.
The first minute has a warm and pulsating kick, with distorted female vocals that serve almost as an instrument. The oscillating baseline builds a picture more compatible with minimal tech but without the conventional or obligatory hats. There is a sweet introduction of deep pads whilst the vocals get belligerent, leading you into a sonic revolution as you hear the bassline become more ragged, the synth channeling the inner demons of Godspeed You! Peter Andre. A siren beautifully builds to a cathartic point at 4 minutes where it holds centre stage, before descending deep into the chasms of witch techno. The emotive suspense then culminates into an exquisite industrial apex to take you on the home straight. The vocal is intricately woven into the track from beginning to end; adapting like an octopus to reflect the different moods evoked by this masterpiece.
